Going the distance with Olympic Marathon

Lighweight, great for a good range of tow vehicles, lots of light, large bathroom area and more!

Olympic -Marathon

There’s been a bit of a craze in recent times for single axle caravans. Especially since manufacturers seem to have figured out how to get a front island bed and rear bathroom layout into an acceptable length. In this case, the Olympic Marathon has an external length of 5.53m (18ft 2in), even with a rear door entry. At first and subsequent glance the Marathon certainly gives the impression of being a smart looking van. All the upper body areas are finished in white composite panelling and although it’s not an offroad caravan, Olympic have not been able to resist an all round black lower waistline. Alloy checkerplate is used for the front wall and that matches the black coloured storage box mounted on the front drawbar.

A look under the van reveals a very solid looking box section chassis that rides on leaf spring suspension and 15in alloy wheels.

A light hue colour scheme creates a pleasing impression when first seeing the Marathon interior. All the mid area is taken up by a nearside kitchen bench and offside dinette but the fridge is tucked in between the dinette and the bathroom. This leaves the front area for the island bed, as is standard.

It seems to me that this bathroom is very large relative to the rest of the van. It certainly has a good sized shower in the rear left hand corner and the obligatory cassette toilet on the opposite side.
