First low-cost CMCA caravan park opens
The Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA) has introduced an innovative new concept in RV accommodation with the opening of the first CMCA RV Park at Ingham, Qld.
CMCA RV Parks will provide low-cost, no-frills accommodation for CMCA members whose vehicles meet the requirements of the CMCA Self Contained Vehicle (SCV) policy.
The parks provide access to a secure place to park, potable water and dump points and they will be managed by volunteer custodians who live on-site to oversee the day-to-day activities and to implement park rules.
"CMCA RV parks are providing a viable alternative to the RV accommodation dynamic at a time when baby boomers are entering the RV tourism market in ever increasing numbers," CMCA chairman Garry Lee said.
"We are developing a new style of accommodation to meet the needs of our members who have invested in vehicle technology that makes them the most environmentally-friendly self-drive tourists in Australia."
CMCA RV Park - Ingham can accommodate up to 50 vehicles. CMCA has leased the property from the Hinchinbrook Shire Council and has spent more than $60,000 within the local community installing a shelter shed, fencing, a dump point, sealed driveway and the planting of more than 140 trees.
CMCA plans to establish about 80 RV parks across Australia over the next five years.
