The awards, which were held in Adelaide, SA, on April 10, 2015, recognise and promote excellence in tourism.

Caravan and camping accommodation providers also picked up awards outside the main category, with Ibis Styles Katherine – a hotel in Katherine, NT, with campsites for road trippers – winning gold in the Standard Accommodation category.

Rawnsley Park Station in the Flinders Ranges, SA, took home the silver for Unique Accommodation due to its ‘eco villas’.

Capricorn Caves, a complex of above-ground caves in a limestone ridge north of Rockhampton, Qld, claimed bronze in the Tourist Attractions category for the plethora of accommodation including camping options.

Caravan Industry Association of Australia chief executive Stuart Lamont said it was great to see the increased capacity and improved quality of caravan parks being recognised in the accommodation industry.

"More and more we are seeing parks innovate to create memorable experiences for the millions of Australian’s who go caravanning and camping each year," Mr Lamont said.

In other awards, the Port Arthur Historic Site was named the best Major Tourist Attraction and the Woodford Folk Festival was named Best Major Festival or Event.
