In the December issue of Caravan World, we had six copies of kids welcome to Queensland up for grabs.

Kids welcome to Queensland is written by Sarah Pye, editor of Kids on the Coast magazine, and features over 500 age-appropriate activities in the 270-page book. Activities are ranks according to their suitability for preschool, primary, or teenage children.

Seven regions are covered, with each travel chapter providing descriptions, locations and relevant contact details for local kid-safe beaches (where applicable), playgrounds, restaurants and recommended campsites and accommodation, and a yearly planner of family-orientated events.
Maps by Hema are found at located at the back of the book.

Kids welcome to Queensland retails for $29.95 and is available from major bookshops and tourist information centres, or online at

Our six winning entries below revealed what was so special about their favourite family holiday destination, each nabbing themselves a guide.

  • Treasure Island Holiday Park at Biggera Waters in Qld is our family’s favourite. The kids love the three pools, kids’ club, mini golf, tennis, jumping pillow, adults like the restaurant, friendly staff and pristine grounds. - Margaret Jaques, Crestmead, Qld.
  • Portarlington because it is on the edge of the greatest bay in Australia with some of the best fishing and it is so close to home I can enjoy it anytime. - Nas Foscarini, The Basin, Vic.
  • Our favourite holiday destination is Kingscliff, NSW. The beach there is fantastic for children and it isn’t as busy as a lot of other coastal towns. If you time it right there are quite often Humpback whales swimming past. - Janet Denton.
  • Our favourite family holiday activity is taking our camper trailer to Barrington Tops. It’s a great place to relax and escape from the pressures of working life and just spend time with the family. - Darren Snell, Werrington County, NSW.
  • Our favourite activity is going away in our caravan. Our special destination is Coral Bay, WA, where there is a perfect kid-friendly beach! -
    Jodie Smith.
  • It has to be Surfers Paradise, Qld, with my two girls aged 10 and 15. We are a close family and love doing things like swimming with the dolphins and going to theme parks together. - Filomena Mago, Vic.
