I am planning a trip from my home state of WA to the Hunter Valley just inland from Newcastle NSW. I would like to travel along the lengh of "Putty Road" that goes through "Wollemi National Park" from "Windsor" to "Singleton". But I have no idea of the road conditions in towing a medium size caravan on that route, has anyone done it who can advise me?

Thankyou

Mike, WA

Last time we used the Putty Road, we only went from Wollombi to Windsor - wondered why I ( as Passenger) in our heavily sprung Hiace, was so sore - all those corners. Good run in a good car though

Mike. It used to be the road all the semis used once. It's wide enough and not too steep. Just be careful because it goes from OK to some sharp bends and if your not careful, well just concentrate. You'll be OK.

Mike, the Putty is a good way to travel to the Hunter. If it is the National Park you wish to see then the Putty will not provide the experience that you may be after.
I travel the Putty at least twice a year with a 5.4m van in tow, not a problem

ive travelled the putty rd since 1974 and its had a lot of upgrades through the years.dont worry about other traffic they will pass you when they like even if it is illeagally. a ll you need to do to survive the putty rd is these two very basic simple rules,KEEP LEFT. OBEY ADVISORY SIGNS.ITS THAT SIMPLE.The putty rd isnt dangerous,ITS THE IDIOT BEHIND THE WHEEL that makes it dangerous.

The Putty Road is simply a very windy sealed road. It's used by all sorts of vehicles including semi-trailers. I've used it a lot but never towed a caravan on it.
I'd expect it to be perfectly OK, albeit a bit slow. You'd want to make sure you let the traffic past regularly.
