I'm in the process of looking for a new Dual cab ute for work but also to tow my new Jayco Sterling Carvan (21.65 3) which we pick up next year. The van way's 2.1T empty so would asume by the time you load up with water, food and clothing the van would be getting close to 2.4T. Iv'e been looking on the net to try and help me decide which ute to get but the more I read the more confused I get. Iv'e owned three Rodeo's and been happy with all of them my currant one is a tray top 4x4 diesel, can you give me any advice as to which one you think would be sutible for the job.

Regards, Ian Lovejoy

Interested to know what is wrong with the 2.5 ltr. diesel Nissan Navara. I have a 2.5 diesel Pathfinder towing a 2.0 t. van and tows it very well.

Why does nobody ever suggest Ssangyong. The Rexton,Kyron and Action ute, All have 4WD capability, have 2.3T towing, and are all a great tow vehicle, but then of course (as an 0wner) I am biased. Jim

I think most of the current crop of 4x4 dual-cabs would be suitable; it depends what else you need/want other than towing ability, and how much you're prepared to spend. There will be a new Colorado and its Isuzu partner model (the D-Max) coming early next year and the new Ford Ranger later this year. If you can hold out, I'd wait for the Ranger in particular to see how the Aussie-developed ute works as a tow tug. My favourites of the vehicles available now include the VW Amarok, Holden Colorado/Isuzu D-Max and Toyota HiLux.
